Before & After: Christelle's Light, Airy & Functional Kitchen

Before:

My previous kitchen was outdated and nonfunctional. I had a –very!– red textured backsplash with mahogany cupboards, two different styles of floor (red and black tiles and wood parquet) that visually shrunk the space.

Lots of different heights and depths among the cupboards created an overall sense of confusion. The countertop didn't provide a lot of space to work on and building a central island was not possible without compromising the pathway leading to the other room (my studio).

There were multiple –and infuriating!– gaps between the ends of the countertop and my household appliances. Opening the dishwasher's door while the trash bin's cabinet was open proved to be impossible and trust me, it's somewhat annoying when you're trying to get rid of the last bits of the supper!

The floor and walls were crooked and uneven...
