Shonda Rhimes, the producer and writer behind hit TV shows like "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away With Murder," knows a thing or two about telling a good story. Six years ago, when she first set eyes on what is now her Los Angeles home, it was kind of a mess. A mid-century renovation had swapped the home's original Italianate facade for a faux-mission front, leaving it awkwardly straddling two architectural styles. "My first thought," Shonda tells Architectural Digest, "was that it was ugly. And wrong." But there was something about the house she couldn't walk away from. "The house felt like . . . a good story. And every inch of me wanted to write it."
