The 2019 IKEA Catalog Is Here—These Are Our Favorite Products

The past seven days of my life have been shrouded in secrecy—like NDA-level secrecy—but I can finally open up and shout the big news from the rooftops (well, from Apartment Therapy, at least). The 2019 IKEA Catalog is officially here, and it's a good one! Especially considering it's the Swedish design giant's 75th anniversary year.

"For 75 years we have been driven by the belief that furniture can be affordable without sacrificing principles of quality, design, and sustainability," said Shideh Hashemi, Marketing Manager, IKEA U.S. in a press release. "In our 2019 catalog, we are thrilled to introduce a multitude of exciting new products that stay true to our heritage, providing form and function that's both easy on our wallets and our planet."

IKEA was kind enough to send me an advance copy of the catalog a week before the news became public, and I've been secretly poring over the pages, and desperately trying to keep it hidden from any prying eyes, ever since. I will admit, the cover itself didn't exactly draw me in—save for the lovely blush VEDBO armchair—but IKEA redeemed itself with what's inside.

The 286-page catalog feels distinctly now, with the perfect amount of nostalgia for beloved styles of decades past. For the first time, IKEA also designed seven specific homes all with totally unique design sensibilities to celebrate the differences in how people live at home. And while the families within the homes are fake, the inspiration is real AF.

There's the "Haven in the city," which is full of soothing touches and a neutral palette, there's "Resourceful and loving it" home, where sustainable touches abound, and the "Where more is more" home, which pretty much explains itself. You can find the full list of homes and the pages on which they appear on page four of the catalog, which is available as a digital copy now, and will be available as a physical hardcopy starting August 1 (you can sign up for your copy here).
