Have you ever been asked, "where are you from?" And your first instinct was to tell someone your childhood hometown, even though you knew they meant, "what ethnicity are you?" Maybe your parents have passed down stories for years about how your grandparents or great-grandparents grew up in Italy and traveled here for the American Dream. Or maybe your parents didn't really know what their own parents and grandparents got up to before they were born. Everyone does wonder about their own lineage.
