We can tell you how to install a dimmer switch on a table lamp, but we have to admit that we had our own set of functionality-related questions after seeing this simple Heng Balance Lamp in action. According to Wired, designer Li Zan Wen basically constructed the lamp from wood and magnets, but the stars of its pared-down design—two abacus-like balls that appear to be suspended in mid-air—work together as a unique power switch that proves that sometimes, less truly is more.
