You can't make it through the summer without a tote—it holds your sunscreen, bug spray, beach reads, picnic blanket, and sweater (in case of air conditioning) and doubles as a pillow in a pinch. It needs to be sturdy, roomy, and easy to carry, but if it's gold leafed, dip dyed, fringed, and/or bedazzled, so much the better.
