Entering the real estate business with the purpose of earning passive income certainly isn't a novel idea. However, the inventive folks over at Wisconsin's ESCAPE have placed a creative twist on the popular investment tactic in the form of the company's "Free ESCAPE Tiny House Program," which allows participants to profit off tiny dwellings.
The way the program works is ESCAPE lends out free tiny homes to people who agree to share a portion of the rental proceeds. But obviously, this setup comes with a few caveats.
First off, would-be landlords must own property that's located either within 100 miles of the largest U.S. metropolitan areas or near a high-traffic destination. The land must be in an urban or rural area, and seasonal locations are acceptable, depending on the amount of guest traffic. Additionally, selected tiny home owners are responsible for all maintenance requirements (utilities, liability insurance, etc.) and are strictly prohibited from utilizing the space for their personal needs.
