People sometimes ask me how many loans underwriters or closers are doing these days. I turned to the MBA and the STRATMOR Group for hard numbers. Based on the last round of the MBA and STRATMOR Peer Group Roundtable (PGR) benchmarking program, the average applications per retail underwriter per month was 34 for the mid-sized independents. This translates just under 2 files per day. For the same group and same period, the average closer closed 34.5 loans per month."
